PROFILE

I am a Vancouver-based lawyer and investigator specializing in impartial, trauma-informed, and culturally aware workplace and organizational investigations. Drawing on my background in both law and social work, I bring a balanced, evidence-based approach to uncovering facts, assessing credibility, and supporting fair, informed decision-making.

My professional experience spans more than 15 years and includes extensive work in child protection, administrative law, and workplace investigations. Early in my career, I represented the Director of Child and Family Services, where I managed complex caseloads and conducted mediations, negotiations, and contested court hearings. I also provided legal representation to children and Indigenous families, and advised First Nations governments and organizations on policy and governance matters. This experience shaped my trauma-informed practice and reinforced the importance of cultural awareness, procedural fairness, and respect in all aspects of my work.

In addition to my child protection practice, I have conducted investigations for a broad range of clients, including First Nations, federal and provincial governments, municipalities, non-profit organizations, regulatory bodies, and private sector employers. My investigations address a wide range of issues, including misconduct, conflicts of interest, financial impropriety, retaliation, bullying, harassment, sexual misconduct, discrimination, and other forms of workplace and organizational misconduct.

Prior to establishing Gervais Law, I worked with the University of British Columbia’s Faculty Relations and Independent Investigations Office, where I investigated complaints under various university policies and contributed to the development of investigation procedures. I also served as Independent Counsel to the BC Missing Women Commission of Inquiry, representing the perspectives of Indigenous communities and playing a central role in reviewing and presenting evidence before the Commission. I later represented an Indigenous political organization at the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.

I am called to the bar of British Columbia and am an active member of the Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI). I was previously called to the bar of Ontario.
